Vicky Hurst Captures Second Junior Girls' Championship

 

 

 

Vicky Hurst, of Melbourne, shot a 7-under par 137 to win the 48th Florida Women's State Golf Association Junior Girls' Championship at Orange County National in Winter Garden.

 

Hurst captured the prestigious Championship by shooting a 2-under par round of 70 in the final round to win the title by one shot. Hurst captured her second overall championship (16-18 division) at the age of 17. Evan Jensen from Belleair finished second with a 36 hole total of 70-68-138.

 

In the 13-15 division, Briana Carlson, of Inverness carded a 74-73-147 to win the title in a sudden death play off over Lauren Himebaugh of Palm City. Alessandra Kutz, of Sanford captured the 10-12 division after shooting a 32-34-66 to win by two shot. The 6-9 division was won by Athena Yang of Eagle Lake.  Athena shot a 39-38-77 to win the division.
