Florida in First After Round One of SWATCA

Jovita Golf & Country Club in Dade City, Florida will host the 15th
Southeastern Women’s Amateur Team Championship on November 4-8, 2007. SWATCA
invited teams from Alabama, Florida, Mississippi, North Carolina and
Tennessee to compete this year. The winner is determined by the team earning
the highest number of points at the end of 3 rounds. The rounds are a
four-ball match play, a foursome match play, and a singles match played over
the three days. A match win is one point while a tie earns ½ point to each
side. Each day’s matches are drawn the night before in a blind draw among
the states and teams. Eight players from each team compete in a round. One
player is selected by the captain to sit out each round.

Phillips team will consist of: Mary Jane Hiestand of Naples, Diane Lang of
Weston, Taffy Brower of Boynton Beach, Nancy Smith of North Port, Janice
Roberts-Wilson of Plantation, Sisi Hedges of Mulberry, Terrell Italiano of
Tampa, Ann Pohira of Winter Park, and Suzy Strock of St. Augustine.
The first day of competition, Four-Ball match play, ended with Florida in
first place earning 4 points and North Carolina following behind earning 3
points for the day. Individual Florida player’s results were: Diane
Lang and Taffy Brower won their match 4 and 3 over the North Carolina team.
Terrell Italiano and Suzy Strock won 6 and 5 over the Mississippi team. Ann
Pohira and Janice Roberts-Wilson won 5 and 4 to the Alabama team. Mary Jane
Hiestand and Nancy Smith defeated the Tennessee team 2 and 1.

Florida Tied for First after Round Two of
SWATCA
Dade City, FL
– In the second day of the SWATCA foursome competition, Florida is tied with
North Carolina for the lead on day two with six total points. The Florida
team of Taffy Brower and Nancy Smith as well as Ann Pohira and Janice Wilson
both won their matches. Mary Jane Hiestand and Diane Lang lost their match
to Tennessee. Suzy Strock and Sisi Hedges played North Carolina and lost
their match. At the end of day two, Florida left the day with a total of two
points. On Wednesday, November 7th, will be the beginning of
individual match play. The tee times and pairings are still unknown.

Florida Takes
Second at SWATCA
Dade City, FL – In home stretch of the SWATCA
matches, North Carolina emerged victorious winning a 6 out of 8 matches to
take the championship with a total of 12 points. Not far behind was Florida
in second with a total of 11 points and Tennessee in third with 10 points.
Individual match play results are as follows: Taffy Brower, Nancy
Smith, Ann Pohira, Diane Lang and Mary Jane Hiestand all won their matches.
Terrell Italiano, Janice Roberts-Wilson, and Sisi Hedges lost their matches.
The 2008 SWATCA matches will be hosted at Dancing Rabbit Golf Club in
