FWSGA Awards Scholarship

The Florida Women's State Golf Association's would like to introduce Angela A. Pitenis as recipient for the 2007 Jr. Girls' Scholarship. Angela was born on November 11, 1989 and raised in Boston, Massachusetts, Angela and her family moved to Daytona Beach in 1999. A 2007 graduate of Spruce Creek High School with a weighted GPA of 4.26, Angela will attend the University of Florida in the fall and plans to major in Mechanical Engineering. Angela was a 4-year varsity starter on the Spruce Creek Girls’ Golf team, where she currently took her team to compete in state regional competition.  She was awarded four times with the Sportsman of the Year award along with the Rookie of the Year. But more impressively, the Sportsman of the Year award is only given to one player from the entire county and is voted by all area golf coaches. Angela has also been co-captain during her last year on the golf team. Angela has also won scholastic awards such as First Place in the Science Fair, Language Arts Student of the Month, Spanish Conference Superior Award, and much more. Aside from her golf schedule, she has found time to help establish the Support Our Troops Program which is a website founded in order to create license plates in every state so that the revenue earned can go to the children of fallen and active-duty soldiers for their education. She is not only a talented golfer, but an outstanding student too. Angela graduated as Summa cum Laude in May 2007; she is a published author since the age of 14 with her novel The Rubber Band Wars, she is active in the National Honors Society, and is the Founder and President of the 2005 Spruce Creek High School Physics Club.  Her list of accomplishments continues. Angela A. Pitenis is undoubtedly a deserving scholar with her devotion to golf and school. When asked how it feels to be the recipient of the scholarship, Angela said "It’s a great honor to be awarded this scholarship, and I’m completely flabbergasted; but most of all I’m excited my hard work and dedication really paid off." Angela realizes that this scholarship will impact her life tremendously and is extremely grateful. We are so pleased to have awarded this scholarship to such a deserving candidate. From the Florida Women’s State Golf Association, we would like to wish you the best of luck in the future!
