Vicky Hurst Runner-up at USGA Junior Girls

Vicky Hurst, 16 of Melbourne, was defeated by Jenny Shin from Torrance, California in a dramatic 37-hole final match for the US Girls Junior Championship. After the morning 18 holes, Hurst and Shin were all square.  In the afternoon match, Vicky  played the first six holes two-under par and moved to a three-up position.  Shin battled back over the next seven holes and after the 12th hole of the second 18, Hurst was only one-up.  Both players birdied the 16th hole and both made par on the 17th leaving Vicky dormie with one to play. On the 36th hole of the match, Shin made par to Vicky's bogey forcing the match into extra holes. On the 37th hole, Shin prevailed after Vicky pulled her second shot from a steep side-hill lie into the water. ** www.fsga.org **
