Dowd Captures Junior Girls' Championship

 

Dakoda Dowd, of Palm Harbor, shot a 1-under par 145 to win the 47th Florida Women's State Golf Association Junior Girls' Championship at Lake Buena Vista Golf Club in Orlando.

 

Dowd captures the prestigious Championship by shooting a 2-under par round of 71 in the final round to win the title by one shot.  Dowd captured her first overall championship (16-18 division) at the young age of 13.  2005 Champion Vicky Hurst finished tied for second with a 36 hole total of 70-76-146 along with Jessica Yadloczky, Casselberry 73-73-146 and Jennifer Hooper, Jacksonville with a 77-69-146.

 

In the 13-15 division, Erica Popson, of Davenport carded a 74-68-142 4-under par to win the division by four shots.  Victoria Kiser of Reunion finished second with a 146.  Jasmine Wade, of Oldsmar captured the 10-12 division after shooting a 37-38-75 to win by three shots.  The 6-9 division was won by Anna Newell of Tampa.  Anna shot a 46-41-87 to win the division.
