Nancy Smith and Kim Goedecke shot a 67-68-135 to capture the 15th Florida Women's State Golf Association  Four-Ball Stroke Play Championship at Bent Tree Country Club in Sarasota.

 

Smith, of North Port, and Goedecke, from Tampa, began the day with a three shot lead after posting a first round score of 67, 5-under par.  In the second round the duo made the turn shooting a 3-under 33 on the front nine and then finishing the day at 4-under par 68.   Sarah Phillips-Durst, Tallahassee and Christina Steffen, Fernandina Beach finished 8 shots back with 71-72-143. 

 

In the second flight Erin Fitzpatrick, of Wachula, and Ana-Ofelia Meneses, of Miami won the flight after shooting 70-74-144.  Donna Pierce and Carla Stevenson won the third flight with a 71-74-145.  In the fourth flight Patti Wadsworth, of Bradenton and Patti Piazza, of Sarasota, won their flight by three shots shooting 79-83-162.  The fifth flight featured a two way tie for first with Kathleen Jones of Sarasota and Ingrid Hunter, of Miami, and Laverne Borst and Jacqueline Frascella of Sarasota both shooting a 168 for the championship. The sixth flight was won by Dena Wilson, of Casselberry, and Joan Vindett, of Casselberry, with a 193.  The flights were flighted according to combined handicap index.
