Heather Hagerman Wins 11th Stroke Play Championship

 

Heather Hagerman, of New Port Richey, shot 73-76-76-225 to win the 11th Florida Women's State Golf Association Stroke Play Championship at Palmira Golf Club in Bonita Springs.  Hagerman, a junior at Florida Gulf Coast University lead the championship after the first round shooting a 73.  Heather was two shots behind second round leader Ali Kicklighter, a junior at the University of Kentucky going into the final round.   Hagerman secured her victory with a solid round of 76 on the final day to win by four shots.  

 

The first flight featured a two way tie for first with Terrell Italiano, of Tampa, and Taffy Brower, of Boynton Beach both shooting 230 for the championship.  In the second flight Paula Brzostowski, of Ellenton, shot 84-74-78-236 to win the flight by one shot.  The third flight was won by second round leader Ali Kicklighter shooting 74-73-82-229.  Betsy Boyd, of Windermere won the fourth flight with a 76-84-82-242.  The fifth flight was won by Jenny Lu of West Palm Beach shooting 80-74-82-236.  In the sixth flight Wanda Cook, Land O Lakes won her flight by six shots shooting 91-78-86-255 and Vivian Herklotz won the seventh flight shooting 91-99-97-287.  The flights were flighted according to handicap index.  Complete Results
