FWSGA Points System Revised

The Florida Women’s State Golf Association has revised the point system which governs the selection of players for SWATCA, FL/GA, USGA Team and any other sponsored team competitions.  This system shall be used to determine the FWSGA Player of the Year.

For a player to be eligible for consideration (either on points or as a captain’s choice), the player:

·          Must be a member in good standing of FWSGA

·          Must be able to finance her individual share of the competition costs (travel, room, board, etc).

Selections on points are done as follows:

·          Players must be selected in rank order starting with the player with the highest number of points earned.

·          If player(s) eligible on points decline to play, the next highest ranking player must be selected.

·          If a player(s) must withdraw from the competition prior to the event, the Captain must replace that player with the next highest point earner on the Point system.

SWATCA – 9 (including 1 alternate)

·          7 players must be selected based on the FWSGA point system.

·          2 players may be Captain’s selections and the criterion for selection is at the Captain’s discretion (so long as the player meets the eligibility requirements.)

The 2005 SWATCA team captain is Marsha Miletti.  The competition will be held November 6-9, 2005 in Birmingham, AL

Florida-Georgia – 12

·          10 players must be selected based on the FWSGA point system.

·          2 players may be Captain’s selections and the criterion for selection is at the Captain’s discretion (as long as the players meet the eligibility requirements).

Florida team captain Patti Deschler will lead the team to Georgia to defend the title.  The competition will be conducted the week of July 25th in Atlanta, GA.

USGA Team – 3

·          3 players with the highest points earned.

The Florida team captain for 2005 is Susan Rampelberg.  The competition is September 27 – 29th at Berkeley Hall Club, Hilton Head, SC.

Player Selection Dates:

The players will be selected from the most current points list at the time selections are made.  The 2005 Selection Dates are the following:

·          FL/GA Team after the FWSGA State Amateur Championship

·          SWATCA Team after the FWSGA Four-Ball  Match Play Championship

·          USGA Team after the FWSGA Four-Ball Stroke Play Championship

Player of the Year

·          The FWSGA Player of the Year shall be the individual with the highest points earned on the Point System for the current year as of November 1st.

·          The player must meet the eligibility requirements listed above.

·          In the case of a tie, the player with the most points earned via FWSGA championships shall be the Player of the Year.

How Points are calculated

·          The tournaments that award points are included on the FWSGA Points List. (17 tournaments.)

·          Points are awarded based on finishes that qualify for points.  Points earned at each event shall count until the event occurs again.

·          Player points are earned on a rolling tournament calendar.  When an event listed is played, points earned from the previous year shall be dropped from a players point total. (i.e. after this year’s event is conducted, last year’s values will be dropped from the players points.)

The Tournament Point Listing is available on our website.   Go to FWSGA.org to view what tournaments and point values that will be used in 2005.  (Note: 2004 tournament finishes will be calculated using this system.  Player points will be available on the website after April 30, 2005.)
