Sharon Keil of Lady Lake took advantage of an errant approach shot by Nancy Smith of North Port on the 18^th hole to claim the championship title 2-up in the 2004 Florida Women’s State Golf Association’s Senior Match Play Championship Tournament held at Naples’ Bay Colony Golf Club Sept. 21-24.

Smith defeated 2003 defending champion Shirley Budden 5+3 in a rain soaked semifinal round Wednesday afternoon to advance in the championship flight and Keil downed Barbara Molloy of Naples 7+6 to claim the remaining finals slot.

Barbara Magie and Meredith Wolf both of Wellington, faced off in consolation play of the championship flight, with Magie emerging winner 2+1.  Magie defeated Carla Stevenson of The Villages 1-up and Wolf downed Susan Rampelberg 7+5 Wednesday, to match up in the finals of the consolation flight.

The tournament, hosted at Bay Colony, began Monday with a championship qualifying round and closed Thursday with final and consolation play for the championship and six flights.  Ann Fulginiti of Plantation, carded a 75 for medalist honors.
