Country Club of Heathrow to Host U.S. Women’s Open Sectional Qualifier

 

The Country Club of Heathrow in Heathrow, Florida will host the U.S. Women’s Open Sectional Qualifier on June 14, 2004 with 33 players hoping to advance to the Championship July 1-4 at the Orchards Golf Club in South Hadley, Massachusetts. 

 

The sectional qualifier at the Country Club of Heathrow is one of 9 sectional qualifying sites before reaching the Championship.  To get to the sectional qualifying there were 16 local qualifying spots throughout the nation.  Many or Florida’s top amateur and professional golfers will be represented at the sectional. 

 

Florida Women’s State Golf Association members include the 2002 Junior Girls’ Championship winner In- Bee Park, and members, Jennifer Bodemann and Lynde Baltrusaitis.  The sectional qualifier will also include LPGA Professionals including Jan Stephenson and Barb Mucha.  Other Florida notables include Aimee Cho, a sophomore at the University of Florida, and  Morgan Pressel of Boca Raton who is looking to make her second appearance at the Open Championship as an amateur golfer. 

 

The 36-hole qualifier will begin Monday morning at 7:30 a.m. with the final round beginning at 12:30 p.m.  If a playoff is needed, it will be played immediately after the completion of play.
