Brower & Plunkett Win

Taffy Brower and Mary Ann
Plunkett shot a 67-69-136 to
capture the 14th Florida Women
State Golf Association
Four-Ball Stroke Play
Championship at Orange County
National Golf Center in Winter
Garden.
Brower, of Boynton Beach, and
Punkett, from Lecanto, began the
day with a two shot lead after
posting a first round score of
67, 5-under par. In the
second round the duo made the
turn shooting a 3-under 33 on
the front nine and then
finishing the day at 3-under par
69. Defending
champions Mary Jane Hiestand, of
Naples, and Patsy Ehret of
Stuart finished two shots back
with a 70-68-138.
In the second flight Julie
Garner, of Winter Park, and
Cathy Richey, of Orlando won the
flight after shooting 71-74-145. The third flight featured a two
way tie for first with Paula
Fitzpatrick and Michelle
Hartnell, of Miami, and Kie
McNabb and Diana Black both
shooting a 145 for the
championship. Fitzpatrick
and Hartnell took
first place honors by winning
the scorecard playoff.
Linda And Jennie Holloway won
the fourth flight with a
73-73-146. The fifth
flight shared its honors with
Susan Beausang and Marsha Wolak,
of Sarasota, and Mimi Hancock
and Sara Lowe at 155.
After a match of cards a winner
was not determined and both were
awarded first place honors. In the sixth
flight Nan Habjan, of Seminole
and Cornelia Corbett, of Tampa,
won their flight by one shot
shooting 80-83-163. The
seventh flight was won by
Victoria Krause, of Sorrento,
and Adrienne Geary, of Mount
Dora, with a 85-88-173.
The eighth flight featured Loli
Lindstrom and Suzzie Mahrohnic,
of Palm City winning by five
shooting 89-91-180. Sue
Weil and Barbara Reilly, of
Howey-in-the-Hills shot
85-93-178 to win the flight.
The flights were flighted
according to combined handicap index.
