Sharon Baerenklau and Robert Good Capture FSGA/FWSGA Mixed Team Championship

 

Sharon Baerenklau and Roberts Good won a two hole sudden death play-off to win the FSGA/FWSGA Mixed Team Championship.  Saddlebrook Resort, Wesley Chapel hosted the Championship October 30-31st. 

 

 After the first day of four-ball stroke play, Baerenklau and Good led the field with a three-under par 67 on the Saddlebrook Course.  One shot back were Bruce and Paula Firzpatrick, Homestead, Brent and Debbie Mook Sang, Valrico, and Vladimir and Pamela Vlcko, Lecanto, all at 68.  The final day consisted of 18 holes of modified alternate shot.  Baerenklau and Good shot a three-over par 74 to find themselves in a three way tie for first with Brent and Debbie Mook Sang 68-73-141, and Gail and Mark Weston 71-70-141.  Baerenklau and Good clinched the victory on the second playoff hole when Baerenklau drained a lengthy birdie putt from off the green. 

 

In the second flight, Angie and Sam Loethan, Weeki Wachee, won the flight after shooting 71-71-142.  The third flight featured Maria and Steve Hyden, of Tampa, winning after they shot a 74-73-147.  In the fourth flight Kahleen and Bump Jones, of Sarasota, shot a 75-80-155 to place first in their flight.  Linda and Charles Taylor, of Orange Park won the fifth flight shooting 81-81-162 and Virginia and Michael Madura, Orange Park, shot 79-86-165 to win the sixth flight.  The teams were flighted based on the combined team handicap index.
